Minister’s Message
Psalm 122:1 ‘I rejoiced when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord”.’
I’m writing this on Sunday afternoon, September 12, “back to church Sunday”,
using the word “church” as the in-house worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday morning. For 18 months we have not worshiped
together “in person” in the sanctuary as a church family. We’ve been doing our Sunday morning worship virtually, taping during the week and posting it online on Sunday morning for you to worship with us from home. But this morning a group of almost 80, who felt comfortable and ready to do so, gathered together in the sanctuary, with all the necessary safety protocols in place, for our worship service.
It was emotionally moving and exciting for me to be able to experience worship together once again in a sanctuary I love and with people I love. And I was amazed at the joy expressed by many of those who were there. I know that worship is far more than what goes on in a building for one hour on Sunday mornings. But for more than 7 decades now, Sunday mornings, “at church” have been a very significant part of my spiritual life, health and growth. It has given me one hour a week of focused worship and attention on Jesus Christ with others. Things are still far from what we would consider “normal”, but I look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when the risks of the Covid infection have lessened to the point that all of our church family will be able to return and we can all exclaim together, ‘I rejoiced when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord”.’
Blessings, Rev. Bob

Something to ponder and pray about:
Planning for Fall Bible Studies is underway. Our intention is to run some in-house and some virtual studies, so that anyone who wants to participate can find a format that works for them. The studies will be 6-8 weeks in duration, running through October and November. We will not, as yet, be returning to the Wed. evening format with worship and refreshments.
To assist us with our planning, we are asking for some initial information from those who are interested in attending. Please send an email to Rev. Bob at rcquick@standrewslindsay.com stating whether you prefer to attend a study in person or on Zoom. You can also provide this information by calling the church at 705-324-4842.
A full list of studies being offered will be made available very soon.
Please keep the studies in your prayers.
