2024 ANNIVERSARY LETTER

Dear Families and Friends of St. Andrew’s,
We will be celebrating our 189th anniversary on May 12, 2024. This is a me when we pause to reflect on God’s work in our lives and in our church. God has blessed this congregation in many ways over the years. There is much to celebrate as we honour this 189th anniversary.
As has been customary over the years at the me of our anniversary, we approach our church family to request a special donaon to assist in paying for unbudgeted expenses that may occur during the year. These are items that are unexpected and must be paid sooner rather than later. In the years when we are fortunate enough to surpass our goal, the excess funds are used to assist in paying the everyday operating expenses of the church.
There are three projects that require our immediate attention, two of which are related.
Project 1: Our security panel. We place a high priority on the security of members of the congregation, volunteers and other visitors to our building. We also place a high value on the building itself. Our security panel is an older model with no capacity to address new requirements. Due to its age, it has become very expensive to repair. As such, it was decided to put a newer, larger system in at this me at a cost of approximately $2,600.00.
Project 2: New locks. The keys that were being used for the building were old and could no longer be replaced. When the new panel was installed, it was determined that we also needed new locks and keys. The cost of this is approximately $900.00.
Project 3: Brick work and repair. We have identified the need for more repairs to the brickwork on the exterior of the church. Every year or two we attempt to do some brick repairs not just for safety reasons, but to avoid a major repair bill that could run into the $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 range. We esmate that this work will be approximately $7 000; however, we are waiting for a final quote.
Taking this into consideration, we have set our 2024 Anniversary fundraising goal at $10,500.00.
We are all proud of our building. Your generosity in the past has allowed us to maintain our building to the highest possible degree. We want to continue to do this in the future.
